GET INVOLVED

What you can do in your home and daily life:

  • Home composting
  • Leave packaging in the shop
  • Avoid buying anything with non-recyclable packaging
  • Recycle as much as possible –
  • Use re-use networks (Freegle / Freecycle & charity shops)
  • Make use of/contribute to repair services (Transition Towns)
  • Waste less food – buy less, freeze more
  • Find out if there any relevant ‘green champion’ schemes at work. Join it, or set one up.

What you can work for in your area:

  • Support local food banks, branch of Freegle, anti-incineration group
  • Promote Zero Waste Leaflet & Bin the Burners campaign
  • Call for more to be accepted by your Council for recycling at kerbside
  • Support weekly separate collection of food waste for composting of anaerobic digestion
  • Call for more ambitious local recycling targets, e.g. in the local Waste Core Strategy

  • Freegle – Find and offer items for re-use locally
  • Freecycle UK – Find and offer items for re-use locally
  • Recyclenow – Find local recycling opportunities in England
  • The Real Junk Food Project – Find your nearest “pay as you feel” cafe (which prevents edible food going to incineration/landfill)
