Notes: In January 2017 it was reported that construction was underway, with the facility expected to open in 2019 [Source]. FM2 was granted planing permission under a Development Consent Order to treat waste-derived fuels in October 2015 (see Planning Portal entry). An environmental permit was issued in November 2015 (EPR/YP3332WV) and varied in August 2018 to allow for IBA processing (EPR/XP3833DK). In July 2016 it was announced that Hitachi Zosen Inova was awarded construction contract, with facility scheduled to go online in 2019 and noted that arrangements for feedstock supply to FM2 had yet to be signed [Source]. Not to be confused with the neighbouring existing FM1 plant. Environmental permit granted in December 2015 (EPR/YP3332WV/A001). Reported in June 2017 that a 20-year contract has been agreed to take 50tkpa of RDF from Derby City Council and the Barsnley, Donacaster and Rotheram Waste Partnership [Source]. Green Investment Group pledged investment in the scheme in September 2017 [Source]. In September 2019 it was reported that hot commissioning was about to begin [Source]. In December 2020 Wheelabrator announced the sale of their UK EfW division to the European Diversified Infrastructure Fund III, an infrastructure fund managed by First Sentier Investors (FSI) [Source]. Existing Incinerator means a facility that is operational or under construction/commissioning. A Potential Incinerator is a facility where there is a proposal for an incinerator (e.g. planning application or planning consent) or other reason to believe an incinerator might be built/proposed in the future. A Prevented Incinerator is something which used to be a proposal or expected incinerator which we do not believe is currently being progressed (e.g. because the project was cancelled, planning permission refused, or years have gone by since the permission was granted without any progress) - in some cases a facility marked as prevented is being progressed without us being aware or is subsequently revived. Capacity is usually the permitted or maximum advertised capacity of the facility.
