Notes: Construction commenced in 2015, but was halted in 2019 when the construction company was dropped [Source]. In April 2023 an application was made to vary the permit to allow the plant to burn RDF (EPR/MP3333WX/V004). In June 2023 it was reported that Womble Energy (linked to CoGen) was taking over this project to convert it to a 350ktpa incinerator (an increase over the previous 333ktpa figure). An updated permit which allows the plant to burn RDF was issued to Port Clarence Energy Limited in January 2024 with a capacity of 333ktpa. It was reported in March 2025 that Vital Energi had purchased Port Clarence Energy Ltd and was taking over the project and that it was understood that a historic structural steel issue had been "completely resolved" [Source]. In November 2025 it was reported that "N+P has signed a 10-year contract to supply Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) to Vital Energi’s Energy from Waste (EfW) facility at Port Clarence" [Source].
