Notes: Planning application approved in October 2019 (19/00027/WASFUL) [Source]. Proposal announced in January 2019 for a combustion plant, which is presumably a conventional moving grate mass-burn incinerator. In January 2021 the planning permission was varied to to accommodate the facility as a single line plant, with a condition that the development must begin before 5th October 2022 (NCC Ref 20/00048/WASVOC). Not to be confused with the Clean Power Properties gasification proposal proposed within the same site footprint which had a lower stack and building height. Permit application to increase capacity to 360ktpa submitted in Setepmber 2023 [EPR/EP3629SF/A001]. In December 2023 Encyclis applied to the Environment Agency for a permit, stating a maximum capacity of 357,408 (EPR/EP3629SF/A001). In May 2024 it was reported that this facility was "thought to be close to making financial close" [Source]. It was reported in February 2025 that it was understood that "Encyclis is preparing to begin full construction" [Source]. Permit EPR/EP3629SF/A001 issued on 4th June 2024. As of July 2025 there is no mention of the Corby facility on the Encyclis website either as operational or under construction, whereas the Walsall plant which was listed alongside Corby as being in "in the final stages of development" in a Janaury 2023 press release is listed as being under construction [Source, Source]. North Northamptonshire Council stated in March 2026 that: "In regards to planning permission ref: 19/00027/WASFUL, as amended by 20/00048/WASVOC, the Waste Planning Authority was satisfied on 23 June 2022 that the development had lawfully commenced... Although works began on site to implement the permission, the development itself has not yet been fully built out. Therefore, as the planning permission has commenced, the planning permission cannot expire." (Entry updated 2026-04-20)
