Notes: The Secretary of State refused planning consent for the proposal in June 2014 [Source], but this decision was quashed by a legal challenge brought by Veolia. Following a re-determination, the application was refused again in July 2015 and Veolia announced in August 2015 that they were not challenging this decision [Source, Source]. PFI was funding was withdrawn in October 2014 [Source]. Veolia awarded Hertfordshire County Council waste PFI contract in April 2011 [Source]. The proposed facility was intended to process both C&I and LACW waste. It was reported in February 2025 that the council intends to put the incinerator site up for sale because the council had no further plans for that site [Source]. (Entry updated 2025-03-10)
