Notes: In October 2021 it was reported that the developer was no longer progressing this project [Source].In January 2021 it was reported that councillors were expecting a fresh application at the site of the refused Roytron incinerator for a taller facility from Synenergy with the proposed capacity expected to double to around 250,000 tonnes per annum [Source]. The applicants ran a public consultation at the end of 2020. It was reported in May 2021 that: " The mooted incinerator at Mossdown Road in Royton has yet to be formally submitted for consideration by the Council’s Planning Committee" [Source]. In July 2021 it was reported that: "Plans for a £150 million incinerator in partnership with the Wheeldon Brothers waste handling facility in Heyside, Royton are set to move forward despite a huge blaze at the site last month" and that "Synenergy are currently reviewing proposals ahead of submitting a planning application to the Oldham Council." It was annoucned in October 2021 that the Synpower "is looking again at plans for a facility in Royton after confirming it would withdraw the current proposals" [Source] and that the plant would now be developed with a form of "low carbon technology". It is unclear what is meant, especially as sometimes incineration and gasification are advertised as low carbon technologies. (Entry updated 2022-07-28)

Capacity is usually the permitted or maximum advertised capacity of the facility.
