Notes: Planning permission granted on appeal in September 2024 (APP/D1265/W/23/3327692), and in October 2024 it announced that legal challenge had been issued by a local campaigner [Source]. A legal challenge against the grant of planning permission is ongoing as of July 2025 with a hearing expected by Spring 2026. Plans for the incinerator intended to burn RDF were announced in November 2019 [Source, Source]. Planning application was submitted in September 2020 [See application ref WP/20/00692/DCC]. In March 2023 the Dorset council voted unanimously to refuse planning permission WP/20/00692/DCC (See video recording). Environmental permit AP3304SZ was issued in February 2025. On 5th November the Environment Agency opened a consultation on a variation to the permit that would increase the number of waste codes that could be incinerated, with the consultation closing on 18 December 2025 [EPR/AP3304SZ/V002]. In June 2026 the Environment Agency published their draft decision document and draft permit variation which were subject to consultation through to the end of July, although the EA may accept late submissions (EPR/AP3304SZ/V002).
