Notes: Planning permission CW9/1022/22 granted on appeal in August 2025 (PINS ref APP/U1050/W/24/3354670). A planning application was submitted to Derbyshire County Council in October 2022 [CW9/1022/22]. Pre-application consultation launched in June 2021 for an incinerator intended to treat "household and Commercial & Industrial waste". An updated revision of the planning application was submitted in July 2024. The initial consultation on permit application EPR/LP3327SK/A001 closed on 28 June 2024, and a second round of consultation closed in December 2024. A consultation on a draft permision was launched in September 2025 and is due to close 8 October 2025 [See consultation page]. In September 2024 the Derbyshire County Councillors on the Planning Committee voted to refuse planning permission primarily due to landscape impacts, including conflict with National Planning Policy for Waste Locational Criteria and South Derbyshire District Council local plan policies. In September 2024 the council refused planning permission due to "significant harm to the visual amenity and landscape character of the area". While the planning appeal was determined based on a 'design capacity' of 186,000 tpa this is not a planning condition and the requested permit would allow for up to 230,000 tpa of "mixed non-hazardous fuel" to be treated. Capacity is usually the permitted or maximum advertised capacity of the facility.
