Notes: Batch Oxidation Gasification incinerator proposed (application number 11/01773/F). According to Sita the expected feedstock would be 64,000 tonnes of C&I; 30,000 tonnes of MSW; and 6,000 tonnes of internal MRF rejects. According to Sita: "The planning application follows planning permission granted for a similar scheme at the site in May 2009 (09/00608/F) for a Waste Recovery Facility encompassing gasification and a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). SITA has subsequently acquired the site and now wishes to refine the planning permission...". It was stated in November 2015 that construction was delayed because SITA had agreed not to build the gasification facility before the commissioning of the their Severnside Energy Recovery Centre which had yet to occur [Application letter for planning ref 15/05663/SCR]. Permit DP3236HH issued in 2010 and subsequently varied (ref DP3236HH/V003). Understood to have been abandoned. (Entry updated 2023-08-31)

A Prevented Incinerator is something which used to be a proposal or expected incinerator which we do not believe is currently being progressed (e.g. because the project was cancelled, planning permission refused, or years have gone by since the permission was granted without any progress) - in some cases a facility marked as prevented is being progressed without us being aware or is subsequently revived. Capacity is usually the permitted or maximum advertised capacity of the facility.
