Notes: Operational from the end of 2020. Incinerator supposedly intended to accept waste from "local businesses and local authorities". Turned down by Bristol City Council but approved on appeal in April 2011. Viridor had expected to begin construction in early 2012 [Source], but the plans were put on hold until Somerset Waste Partnership announced in November 2016 that they would provide up to 35% of the feedstock for the plant which was reportedly scheduled to begin operation in 2020 [Source]. In January 2021 it was reported that in December 2020 construction was completed and operations were handed over to Viridor by CNIM [Source]. Permit GP3834HY issued in September 2011. In November 2023 Viridor applied to increase capacity from 376,500 tpa to 427,050 tpa and to allow more waste types to be incinerated (EPR/SP3301LA/V003) and this request was approved in March 2024. According to the application: "Viridor is applying to increase the annual waste processing capacity of the Facility to allow for operation at the 110% Maximum Continuous Rating (MCR) thermal capacity point on the firing diagram. Continuous operation at the 110% point on the firing diagram would be achieved through changes to the combustion control system. The changes to the combustion control system will enable the Facility to process a higher waste throughput on an hourly basis" (Entry updated 2024-06-03)
