Q3 waste stats out: More recycling, less to burn

New waste data shows that recycling continues to rise whilst ‘residual’ arisings continue to fall.

“Provisional estimates for Quarter 3 of 2011/12 of local authority collected waste generation and management for England and the regions have been published today.

These statistics are based on data submitted by all local authorities in England to WasteDataFlow on the waste they collect and manage.  Final estimates for 2011/12 will be published in November 2012.”

“The proportion of household waste sent  for recycling, composting or reuse between January to December 2011 in England was 42.9 per cent, increasing from 41.5 per cent in the financial year April 2010 and March 2011.”
