Aerodynamic and Atmospheric Dispersion Modelling Systems

Do you have any information on the differences between ADMS (Atmospheric Dispersion Modelling System) and AERMOD (Aerodynamic Modelling System). ADMS is used by the Met Office and UK Government, AERMOD is the official standard in the US. SITA used both for St. Dennis and chose the ADMS results as they were lower. Why would one set of results be higher?
