Worcestershire residents Against Incineration and Landfill (WAIL) represents residents in Hartlebury, Elmley Lovett and the surrounding areas. WAIL was established to object to the planning application for a waste incinerator on greenbelt land in Hartlebury, near Kidderminster, Worcestershire. A Public Exhibition, organised by Worcestershire residents Against Incineration and Landfill (WAIL) will take place on Friday 9th April (2 pm – 8 pm) and Saturday 10th April (10 am – 4 pm). On display will be answers to the most commonly asked questions about planning, legal, technical and other issues associated with incineration. All are welcome, and refreshments are promised!

Following the very successful public meeting when 400 people crammed into the Village Hall, many of you may feel that little is happening. In fact there is a massive amount of work being undertaken by the group chosen to lead this campaign on your behalf, but until now it has not been possible to reveal our plans. Our new
group has been formed under the banner of Worcestershire residents Against Incineration and Landfill (WAIL). The title has been chosen because this is simply not a local problem – in one form or another the whole of Worcestershire will be affected. In reality we do not believe that there is a genuine and credible case to be made for incineration (or Energy from Waste as it is euphemistically described). There are also serious questions to be answered about the proposed location in addition to the often voiced concerns relating to emissions and health.
The site is acknowledged to be in the Green Belt and from a legal and planning view point contrary to the Wychavon District Local Plan 2006. The sheer size and scale of the proposed incinerator will dwarf the existing buildings on what is effectively a Trading Estate. At a stroke this proposed development would transform our rural location into an industrial zone!
We are now at the point where we can commence our official campaign in earnest against this monstrous and totally unnecessary development.
We shall be holding future events and public exhibitions in order to demonstrate not only the potentially devastating and harmful effect this could have on our own area, but also the inevitable long term costs in very many ways to be suffered by the whole of the County.
