To improve the services we provide for our members UKWIN is developing a wish list of items and other expenses. Please contact us with offers of support, or to add items to the list!
In no particular order, this is the list so far:
* Funds for additional National Coordinator time (UKWIN can only pay for 2 days a week at present) £10,000 – £20,000
* Funds for Regional Coordinators (UKWIN currently has no budget to pay for Regional Coordinators) £5,000 – £50,000
* Funding for our Equal Opportunities Policy, e.g. to pay towards transportation costs to enable attendance at UKWIN meetings £500 – £1,000
* Air monitoring equipment for group use £6,000
* Funding for attending conferences £1,000
* Funding for research projects (e.g. bottom ash toxicity; evaluating carbon footprint of different waste technologies; comparing modelling predictions with actual emissions data) £3,000 – £30,000
* Purchasing WRATE and other computerised modelling tools for use by UKWIN members £2,500 – £5,000
* Exhibition equipment and professional design support £1,000 – £6,000
* Advertising and membership drive £2,000
* Digital camera for groups to use to supply the website with digital photographs, etc. £200
* Funding for UKWIN’s next Annual General Meeting in Nottingham on 21st March 2009 (e.g. guest speakers, catering, travel expenses, accommodation, etc.) £500 – £1,000
* Office expenses (telephone, stationery, postage, etc.) £500 – £2,000
* Computer software, technical support, Internet access, computer hardware, etc. £500 – £4,000
* Subscriptions and publications £200 – £2,000
* Insurance for the National Network and for UKWIN members £300 – £3,000
UKWIN is also seeking funding to ensure that we can continue to maintain and imnprove upon our exisitng map, and to extend this facility with a series of additional maps to focus on sewage sludge, commercial and industrial, wood waste, hazardous, clinical and other incinerators. We would also like to undertake additional porjects, such as profiling all UK Local Authorities and their approaches to waste management. If you can contribute to making any of these wishes come true, either through financial contributions or in-kind (voluntary contribitons of time and/or information), please contact the Coordinator.
