Local campaigners have lodged a legal challenge with the High Courts of Justice in London against an Inspector’s decision to grant planning permission for a 190,000 tonne incinerator at Sinfin Lane in Derby. The decision, which was at odds with the decisions of the planning committee and an Inspector from a previous inquiry, was issued on the 21st of September 2012 for an application which was submitted in May 2009.

According to local campaigner Simon Bacon, who is the chairman of Sinfin, Spondon and all Against Incineration (SSAIN): “We have been working on this for a long time and now it has come to fruition. We are confident, we have taken legal advice and consulted a barrister and they believe there is a strong case to be heard.”
