The remarkable fall in landfilling has produced negative landfill tax receipts in June!

UK Trade Info is the part of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) responsible for producing trade statistics. These statistics record the movement of visible goods between the UK and both EU and non-EU countries.

According to the uktradeinfo.com website the Tax man paid out refunds and adjustments that exceeded income by £48 million in June 2009.

Landfill operators have shifted reporting cycles making analysis of the data more complex.

According to Waste Statistician Keith Kondakor:

It is possible that shifting the month that they send in their return gives then tax advantages. Next month is normally the biggest return of the year and will show how much of apparent the drop is real. The headline is landfill is falling around 1/3rd compared to last year.
